The Sennheiser EW-D Lapel Kit Wireless Microphone System is the latest digital wireless system for those who speak or present.
The EW-D ME 2 kit contains a EW-D SK bodypack transmitter, with a ME 2 omni-direction clip-on microphone, and a EW-D EM receiver. This wireless microphone system is for use on frequencies in the Channel 38 frequency range (606 – 614 MHz). Therefore, an Ofcom licence is a legal requirement before using this equipment.
The EW-D lapel kit allows up to 24 wireless kits to work together simultaneously. Using Sennheiser’s Smart Assist App, up to sixteen systems can be remotely set up and monitored by Bluetooth. Smart Assist is available on i0S and Android operating systems. The EW-D systems use the same digital technology found in Sennheiser’s high-end Digital 6000 and 9000 systems.
The SK transmitter has an on/off switch, a mute switch and a sync button for manually synchronising transmitter and receiver. There are also two LEDs: a Data LED and a Link LED. The link LED is a multicolour LED which shows the status of the link between transmitter and receiver, mute status, clipping and low level of the transmitter battery.
The EW-D EM receiver is a diversity receiver with two rear antennae. It has a balanced line level output on XLR and an unbalanced jack output. An LCD display on the front panel shows frequency, RF and audio levels on bar-graph meters, gain and audio output levels, channel and transmitter battery level. The LCD display also shows the status of the app connection and audio mute. The front panel also has the Data and Link LEDs which mirror the LEDs on the transmitter.
